HEARTS TO HEROES - A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE CAREGIVERS OF OUR WOUNDED MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN. (Click Here for info)

Many of our supporters have questioned what Afghanistan is like as a country.  What type of terrain, how are the winters, and what are normal conditions that our military men and women face on a daily basis.  To answer the many questions we have elected to insert this page into our web site in hopes that all Americans will understand the extremely harsh conditions that our military heroes face everyday in the performance of their duty.

Rough terrain and extremely cold winters make conditions very harsh for our men and women serving in Afghanistan.

Terrain: Mostly rugged mountains; plains in north and southwest

Weather:  The climate is typical of an arid or semiarid steppe, with cold winters and dry summers. The mountain regions of the northeast are subarctic with dry and cold winters.
